CoDA is All About Recovery.

Many of us struggle with the questions “What is codependence?” or “Am I codependent?” We see it in the news. Many of us wonder if codependence describes who we are.  We want precise definitions and diagnostic criteria before we will decide. Codependents Anonymous, as stated in the Eighth Tradition, is a non-professional fellowship, so we offer no specific definition or diagnostic criteria for codependence.

What we do offer from our experience are characteristic attitudes and behaviors that describe what our codependent histories have been like. We believe that recovery begins with an honest self-diagnosis. We come to accept our inability to maintain healthy and nurturing relationships with ourselves and others. We begin to recognize that the cause lies in long-standing, deep & destructive patterns of living.

Most people come to finally realize their codependence by attending their first meeting. Hearing other people share their experiences helps us to realize that we are NOT alone and provides HOPE for those who are willing.

We have spent a lifetime practicing our codependent behaviors and no one can promise a quick fix. We celebrate and rejoice in the small victories, because they are truly huge. We walk the path with you, and we celebrate with you. As our victories accumulate, one victory at a time, we can experience a truly wonderful transformation.
